Oral cancer can occur in different areas of the mouth and throat, such as the tongue, tonsils, gums, lips, and more. Men are at a higher risk of developing oral cancer compared to women, especially those over 50 who smoke heavily and drink alcohol frequently. Other factors that can contribute to oral cancer include exposure to UV radiation, GERD, previous radiation treatment, certain chemicals, and a poor diet. Despite advancements in detection and treatment, there has been a rise in oropharyngeal cancer cases, partly due to HPV.
Oral cancer ranks in the top ten most prevalent cancers globally, but advancements in research, prevention, detection, and treatment have significantly enhanced patient outcomes. Early detection can lead to a survival rate of over 80% for oral cancer.
We aim to offer outstanding, all-encompassing care that improves not only your smile but also your overall health. Through routine checkups and dental cleanings, we conduct detailed screenings for oral cancer to identify any abnormal tissue changes that may suggest oral cancer or other issues. Additionally, we provide education to patients about the warning signs of oral cancer, enabling them to monitor their oral health independently.
